Why Conservatives and Republicans Sometimes Question Science

The Atlantic had an article on New Year’s Eve entitled, “Why Has Republican Belief in Evolution Declined so Much?” based on a Pew Research Survey the author tries to explain the reason, blaming in on everything from the economy to the rise of “Intelligent Design” being taught in some public schools. In the end he presents numerous possibilities but no definitive answer. While the survey was taken in 2009, I don’t believe attitudes have changed that much.
